For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by the notion of adventure. Not content sitting inside, twiddling my thumbs, as a teenager I always yearned to explore, never afraid to tread off the beaten path to satisfy my sense of curiosity.
Capturing these various adventures on camera seemed like the natural thing to do and, fast forward to 2016, I’m lucky enough to find myself in a job that combines both passions. It seems fitting, therefore, that my first year as a media production assistant at S3 has coincided with Wales’ Year of Adventure.
Featuring adventure ambassadors such as Bear Grylls and Richard Parks, The Year of Adventure 2016 is just one element of a wider campaign to champion Wales as the go-to destination for adventure.
I’ve come to realise that, by using my spare time to find and capture adventures, what I’m actually doing is honing my professional skills and expanding my ability to think creatively. With each new adventure comes the chance to explore angles, lighting and composition possibilities, never resting until I capture that perfect shot.
By transferring that skillset and mentality of perfectionism to life at S3, I’m able to contribute to a creative department that is not only producing award-winning work, but also satisfied clients. It’s the sort of mentality that runs through the veins of the entire agency and, as such, sets us apart from the rest.
The following photo gallery is just a small selection from my very own Welsh adventures and, with any luck, they’ll help inspire the start of yours.
