The City Zip Company has looked no further than award-winning agency, S3 Advertising, to support the launch of its thrilling new zip wire attraction in Cardiff this summer.
In the first ever event of its kind in the Welsh capital, Zip Now Cardiff is set to take the city by storm; offering brave riders the opportunity to tackle a zip wire journey off the 45-metre-high roof of the voco St. David’s Hotel, and travel 350 metres across the water in Mermaid Quay at speeds of up to 59 kilometres per hour.
Launched in 2017 and quickly established as one of the premiere activities for thrill seekers, The City Zip Company also operates Zip Now London – the world’s biggest and fastest city centre zip wire. The London attraction is returning for a third season on 12th June 2019 after hosting 75,000 people in previous years.
Founder and CEO of The City Zip Company, Barry Shaverin, says: “We’re so excited to be heading to Cardiff. Having such a beautiful, tall building so close to a large expanse of water allows us to create the ultimate zip wire experience.”
The City Zip Company tasked S3 Advertising with devising an innovative creative concept for the brand-new attraction in the Welsh capital; including TV, radio and digital adverts, social media content, a Wales-centric PR strategy, and media buying and planning – in addition to two new websites for both the Cardiff and London attractions.
Following an impressive pitch at ‘The Lion’s Den’, work is now well underway for the exciting launch as S3 work in partnership with Rooster PR and Lemonade Social.
“S3 is unapologetically ambitious,” said CEO Matt Jones. “When we want someone’s business, we move heaven and earth to win it – and in this case that meant turning ‘The Lion’s Den’ into Cardiff Bay, complete with a dummy wearing a harness riding our very own zip line over an aerial photo of Mermaid Quay.”

Matt added: “You can imagine my delight at being told by The City Zip Company’s founder ours was the best pitch he’d ever seen in his career!”
Pending the granting of planning permission from Cardiff Council, Zip Now Cardiff will be open seven days a week over the summer holiday period. With restricted opening hours of weekends only from September, full time operating hours will return during the October half term week.
This new and exciting client account addition completes a great few months for S3, after recently winning Best Integrated Campaign (Large) at the 2019 CIM Marketing Excellence Awards for the University of South Wales’ ‘Unleash Your Colours’ campaign – and picking up the ‘Public Sector’ prize at The Drum Digital Advertising Awards for their work with Public Health Wales’ ‘Help Me Quit’ brand.
