And somehow, just like that, it’s the end of April – and the end of my third full month at S3. After spending over 7 years working as a broadcast journalist and radio newsreader, I joined S3’s content team as PR manager in January. And what a ride it’s been so far!
From securing coverage for Porc Wales as they celebrated ‘Porc from Wales Week’, to helping Brace’s Bakery as they launched their whole new range of products, ‘Welsh Legends’ – I really mean it when I say that no two days have been the same.
This month, I was also lucky enough to join three of my colleagues in attending the world’s leading youth marketing festival, YMS19 LDN. The biggest coming together of brands, agencies, universities and youth organisations, the festival comprised talks and panel discussions about how to best resonate with youth audiences.
Within the many sessions we went to, there were tips on how to create meaningful content – the most inspiring of which came from content marketing duo, The Tempest Two. The pair outlined how to best use data from Twitter to identify trends that can help ensure brands only post what’s relevant to their audience.
Amazing talk from @thetempesttwo at #YMS19. How did they get brands to believe in them? They turned their biggest negative (the fact they’ve never rowed before) into a positive (we’re just like your customers!) pic.twitter.com/vAIISbeLlc

Elsewhere, a group of UK-wide university students told us what they really care about – and how companies can best build a reputation with them. Most interesting of all, however, was learning the meaning of the term ‘Finsta’: a second, fake Instagram account that only close friends can see! I was amazed to find out that nearly all of the students on the panel had one.
The two days in London helped equip Team S3 with knowledge and skills that will no doubt be hugely beneficial to our clients; in fact, we’ve already started putting all this insight to work with current clients.

On a personal note, I feel really settled in my new role – thanks in large part to the talented and diverse group of people I get to sit around and work with every day!
Oh, and before I forget, I was lucky enough to have been part of an insanely tasty team lunch, courtesy of the Cardiff-based, Michelin-meal-maestros over at The Healthy Hangout.

So there you have it: my month at S3. Now bring on the next one.
