Whenever friends and family ask me how my month at work has been, my reply is always the same: “I know I say this every month, but it’s been the best month I’ve had in my three years at S3 – by far!”
Yes, they no doubt think that I sound like a broken record – but it’s the truth. And, as S3’s Creative Copywriter, May 2019 has been no different: in a nutshell, it was a month of amazing new client wins, agency atmosphere and professional learning.
Delving beneath the surface, however, and there’s a much bigger story to tell.
A story that starts with S3’s enviable, one-of-a-kind culture. In an industry where the word ‘culture’ is bandied about like it’s nobody’s business, I can safely say that what we have here is the real deal.
Case in point #1? Our latest Small Workplace Health Award from Healthy Working Wales.
Case in point #2? The fact that, when I’ve hit a bit of a creative wall or need to gather my thoughts, I’m encouraged to pick up a golf ball and putter – before taking advantage of our 18-hole, office crazy golf course. The putting battles I’ve had over the past month with S3’s Digital Account Executive, Gareth ‘Gary Woods’ Pitt, have been nothing short of epic.
As well as a productive month for my short game, it’s also been a really great one creatively, too. Without giving too much away, May saw us win some incredible new clients – with some equally incredible creative in the pipeline as a result. But, like I said, you’ll have to watch this space to see what I’m on about.
Picking my favourite highlight from the past month, however, is much like being asked to pick your favourite child: nigh impossible. But if I had to, I’d say that the palpable, positive buzz within The Lion’s Den takes the crown for May.
As someone whose job it is to write words, it’s actually really hard to find the appropriate ones to describe the atmosphere within the office over the past month.
It was one of everybody working hard – but never forgetting to take the time to play even harder.
It was one of asking others to go above and beyond – but never forgetting to take the time to say ‘thank you’ for them doing so. It was one that perfectly summed up what is so unique about S3 – but one that will no doubt be bettered in June, such is this agency’s unrivalled ability to continuously improve.
