Just like last year, we’re using the fact that two thirds of 2019 have passed to celebrate the very best creative we’ve seen thus far; eight ads for the eight months that have come and gone – eight corkers, at that. And, just like this time last year, the standard has been high. Really high.
A standard that has seen brands take bigger risks in order to create braver, bolder and better creative. So, from the Royal Marines to McDonald’s; Paddy Power to Peaky Blinders: it’s time to reveal The Top 8 Ads of 2019 So Far…
#8 – Royal Marines: Pirates
“You won’t see us coming. You won’t see us leave.” And you won’t see a better bit of copywriting this year, either.
#7 – McDonald’s: McDelivery
If great advertising evokes emotion, then these wonderfully simple print ads perfectly encapsulate the feeling of a rainy day delivery craving. *Logs onto Uber Eats app*
To promote McDelivery, @TBWA_Paris and @McDonalds make you want to stay indoors with poetic posters of stormy skies and dripping window panes. See more with @LADN_EU https://t.co/WAGipANllS pic.twitter.com/TMsP7XBDWq

#6 – Burger King: Why Try to Roast?
Note to McDonald’s: as beautiful as the above ads are, maybe leave grilling the competition to Burger King, yeah?
Why try to roast when you can’t even flame grill? Boom. Roasted.

#5 – Skechers: Just Blew It
What do you do when one of your competitor’s products rips during a televised basketball game? Rip into them with a reactive press ad in major newspapers, of course.

#4 – Channel 4: Complaints Welcome
Complaints as to why this doesn’t deserve a spot on our list welcome…
#3 – Peaky Blinders: Fan Art
Ads so good, we just had to show you as many as possible.

#1 – Mothercare: Beautiful, Isn’t She?
Truly bold, thought-provoking and authentic ads – beautiful, aren’t they?
At Mothercare, we believe all mums are beautiful and should feel proud and confident about their bodies. Find out more about our #BodyProudMums campaign and Tesha and Eleanor’s stories here: https://t.co/whYRLKUEvW pic.twitter.com/JnliwpBGkZ
